Symantec Partner Program Gains Strong Momentum in Canada

Edgetech, Network IT Consultants and Watch4Net join as Enterprise Solutions Partners

Toronto, ON. - January 27, 2004 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced three new partners have joined the Symantec Partner Program. Edgetech Services Inc., Network IT Consultants Inc. and Watch4Net Solutions have successfully completed the certifications required of Symantec Enterprise Solutions Partners, the second highest partnership level in the program.

Symantec Enterprise Solutions Partners are required to have one Symantec Certified Security Engineer (SCSE) on staff. Edgetech's Rahul Narshimham earned his SCSE designation by demonstrating in-depth knowledge and expertise in intrusion detection. Network IT Consultants' Yang Sun and Watch4Net's Alexandre Lemay earned their SCSEs by exhibiting their skills in vulnerability management.

"The continued growth of Symantec's Partner Program in Canada indicates that the reseller community is confident in the solutions, programs and support we offer," says Kevin Krempulec, Canadian channel sales manager, Symantec Corp. "As security issues escalate to boardrooms across Canada, our partners are prepared with the solutions and training essential to protect their customers against complex and costly Internet security threats." The Symantec Certification Program provides online and instructor-led technical training and includes courses in firewall and VPN technologies, vulnerability management, intrusion detection and virus protection and content filtering technologies. A passing grade on the appropriate Symantec security exams, plus one of the approved vendor-neutral certifications enables a partner to earn Symantec certification credentials at three different levels:

  • Symantec Certified Technology Architects (SCTA) typically have consultant responsibilities and focus on how to design, plan, deploy and manage effective security solutions.

  • Symantec Certified Security Engineers (SCSE) demonstrate technical security knowledge in a particular security segment and focus on the implementation and in-depth management of solutions in that segment.

  • Symantec Certified Security Practitioners (SCSP) are senior security consultants who demonstrate in-depth knowledge and expertise across two or more security segments.
