Symantec Offers Webcast on Handheld and Smartphone Security Strategies for Enterprises

CUPERTINO, Calif. - April 29, 2003 - Symantec Corp., (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that Jason Conyard, Director of Wireless Product Management, will host a webcast offering recommendations on how enterprises can develop practical security strategies for the growing number of handheld and smartphone devices being used in the workplace. The webcast, titled "Handheld and Smartphone Security - Developing a Corporate Strategy," will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2003 at 8 a.m. PDT. Handheld and smartphone devices continue to be adopted by individuals to aid them with their personal lives and, increasingly, their professional lives too. Unfortunately few organizations have yet to recognize the many benefits and security risks associated with this technology. In this webcast, Jason Conyard, Director of Wireless Product Management for Symantec, will address the need for enterprises to develop strategies for mobile computing security, talk about balancing the risks with the benefits, and provide guidance on developing policies and procedures to protect the enterprise. This webcast is of particular interest to business managers and security IT management responsible for strategic security decisions, policy setting and learning about how security issues affect business.

Jason Conyard is an expert on the global communications marketplace.

The past 12 years have found him working on six continents handling the regulatory, technical and commercial aspects of worldwide communications projects. Conyard currently serves as Symantec Corporation's Director of Wireless Product Management. In this capacity, he is responsible for mapping out Symantec's global response to wireless security threats.

Born in the county of Kent in the United Kingdom, Conyard has been based in the UK, the Netherlands and the United States throughout his career.
