Symantec Offers Webcast on Implementing a Successful Employee Security Awareness Program

CUPERTINO, Calif. - April 16, 2003 - Symantec Corp., (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that it will host a webcast offering recommendations on implementing a successful employee security awareness program. The webcast, titled "Creating a Security Savvy Workforce: A Blueprint for Employee Security Awareness Program Implementation and Management," will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2003 at 8 a.m. PST and 11 a.m. PST. Attendees can register at: http://enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/content/webcastinfo.cfm?webcastid=51.

Max McLellan, Regional Training Manager at Symantec, will lead the webcast. McLellan will discuss the detailed logistics of "what it really takes" to effectively implement and manage an employee security awareness program. This webcast will provide a formula for developing a winning blueprint that organizations of any size can use to build a project plan and roll out a program that is sure to succeed. Topics include advice on how to:

  • Scope and define requirements
  • Plan and manage resources
  • Develop workflow methods
  • Create and review content
  • Launch pilot programs
  • Deploy and monitor awareness campaigns

"In today's environment of sophisticated and frequent threats, organizations understand the need for comprehensive employee security awareness programs. However, planners are faced with a major challenge - taking the program components and rolling them out in a way that ensures success and long-term behavior change," said McLellan. "This webcast will describe tactics planners can implement and will address other important questions for business and security IT management responsible for strategic security decisions, policy setting, and security's impact on the bottom line."
