Symantec Offers Webcast on Creating a Security Savvy Workforce

CUPERTINO, Calif. - March 19, 2003 - Symantec Corp., (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that it will host a Webcast offering recommendations on implementing an employee security awareness program. The Webcast, titled "Creating a Security Savvy Workforce: How to Build an Employee Security Awareness Program that Works," will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2003 at 8 a.m. PST or 11 a.m. PST. Attendees can register at http://enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/Content/webcastinfo.cfm?WebcastID=48.

Kathleen Coe, director of Americas Education Services at Symantec, will lead the Webcast. Coe will discuss ways organizations can build a corporate culture that encourages employees at all levels to understand their security responsibilities and adopt appropriate behaviors. Attendees will learn about what makes a program truly effective: building a long-term program that motivates employees; communicating through multiple avenues; influencing workers to proactively protect information; and measuring the results.

"Employee security awareness is a critical component of any organization's information protection program," said Coe. "Creating a conscientious, security-savvy workforce can have the greatest positive impact on your overall security posture."
