PowerQuest's EasyRestore 3.02 Adds Support for Windows 2000 Professional and Linux
Added speed and BIOS-lock capabilities target the needs of OEM partners and configuration centers
OREM, Utah - June 14, 2000 -
PowerQuest Corporation announces the release of the latest update of its system recovery solution for resellers and corporations, EasyRestore 3.02. This update adds support for Windows 2000 Professional, Linux and hard drives exceeding 8.4 GB in size.
Another important addition to version 3.02 is its BIOS-lock support, which allows OEMs to create recovery CDs using EasyRestore for inclusion with each system they ship. This procedure allows OEMs that bundle Windows 95/98/NT/2000 to comply with Microsoft's directive that recovery CDs be 'locked' to one computer via the system's BIOS.
EasyRestore allows IS technicians and OEM vendors to simplify the system recovery process for their end users," said Mike Kunz, product line manager at PowerQuest. "By allowing the end user to restore the system quickly, OEMs and help desk technicians can realize significant time savings."
Tests show that reinstalling Windows 98 can take between 30-60 minutes without EasyRestore. With EasyRestore, however, the same process lasts approximately five minutes.
Availability
Current users of Easy Restore 3.x can download version 3.02 (approximately 3MB) free of charge by visiting the PowerQuest Web site at www.powerquest.com/updates/en/index.html.
