Products purchased under our service plans, such as Norton AntiVirus 2006 and Norton AntiVirus 2007, are eligible for Microsoft® Windows Vista™ compatibility update subject to production release of the Windows Vista operating system within the service period. Users must have a valid subscription to be eligible for the Windows Vista compatible update.

Recommendation for updating your computer with a Windows Vista compatible solution

If you are planning to upgrade your system from Windows XP to Windows Vista, we recommend updating your Norton solution, if available, prior to upgrading your computer to Windows Vista. This will be the best way to ensure protection and improve the upgrade experience.

Process for updating your computer with Windows Vista compatible solutions

For products that are eligible for free compatibility updates, there are several ways to update your system:

  • Manual Update — Norton Internet Security 2007 and Norton AntiVirus 2007 only
    After determining your eligibility for a free update, you may update your system with the following manual process:

    1. Ensure you have your Product Key available. This is included in your Norton Account, on the CD-ROM sleeve shipped with your product, or in the confirmation email if you downloaded the product.

    2. Download the Trial version of your product located here: http://www.symantecstore.com/dr/v2/ec_main.entry25?page=TrialwareUK&client=Symantec&sid=27685&cid=213479

    3. Uninstall your Norton 2007 product.

    4. Click on the downloaded trialware file to install. Your previous product key should be automatically recognized and convert this trialware to an activated product with the remaining subscription still available.

    5. If the product does not automatically accept the key, enter your key when prompted.

  • Assisted Update — Norton Internet Security 2006 and Norton AntiVirus 2006 only
    The Norton Update Center is available for users of Norton AntiVirus 2006 and Norton Internet Security 2006:

    1. Ensure you have your Product Key available. This is included in your Norton Account, on the CD-ROM sleeve shipped with your product, or in the confirmation email if you downloaded the product.

    2. Click on this link http://www.symantec.com/07Upgrade/ and follow the instructions at the Norton Update Center

  • Manual Update — Norton Confidential

Unless Windows Vista compatibility is stated on the box or product page, all Norton products made available prior to the release Windows Vista will need to be updated to support the Windows Vista operating system.
