Rowan Trollope
Vice President, Consumer Products and Solutions
Symantec Corporation Rowan Trollope is vice president of Consumer Engineering at Symantec Corp. where he leads a team of engineers in identifying and developing Symantec’s industry-leading solutions. Trollope has also served as vice president of Consumer Products and Solutions, leveraging more than 13 years of experience to oversee the engineering, business strategy, product development, and industry relations for the company’s worldwide consumer products.
Trollope also served as vice president of Security Management Products at Symantec where he was responsible for key enterprise security solutions, including Symantec Security Information Manager and Symantec Enterprise Security Manager. Trollope also served as vice president of Research and Development for Symantec consumer products, leading the Norton brand to market leadership in internet security.
Trollope joined Symantec in 1991 and has held senior engineering, quality assurance, support, and general management positions at the business level. He holds patents in computer security and operating systems maintenance and he is an active member of the IEEE.
Michael Plante
Senior Director, Global Partner Marketing, Worldwide Consumer Marketing
Symantec Corporation Michael Plante is the senior director of global partner marketing in the worldwide consumer marketing group at Symantec Corp. In this role, he leads a team that develops marketing programs for Symantec’s key global alliance partners, including some of the world’s largest PC manufacturers, content service providers, and software publishers.
Plante has more than 20 years of experience in marketing technology solutions to consumers, small businesses, large enterprises and governments around the world. Prior to his current role, Plante oversaw Americas and Asia/Pacific marketing for Symantec’s enterprise administration solutions business. Before joining Symantec in 2003, Plante held a variety of marketing leadership roles in the ecommerce, aerospace, education, and advertising industries. Plante studied chemical engineering at Brigham Young University.
Laura García-Manrique
Senior Director of Product Management, Consumer Products and Solutions
Symantec Corporation Laura García-Manrique is a senior director of product management at Symantec Corp. She is responsible for Symantec’s system security, transaction security and PC and network optimization strategies. In this capacity, she drives the introduction of technology solutions that maintain market dominance for products like Norton Internet Security and Norton SystemWorks. García-Manrique also leads the development of emerging technologies to protect consumers from the increasing threat of online transaction fraud. In her previous role at Symantec, she was responsible for the overall management of Symantec’s consumer antivirus product lines.
García-Manrique joined Symantec in 1995. As the Norton AntiVirus product manager, she defined the antivirus product objectives and strategies that contributed to Symantec’s lead in the industry. She has been instrumental in the development and introduction of new solutions to tackle emerging threats in the virus world and for launching new products in the wireless security space, such as Symantec AntiVirus for Handhelds.
A native of Spain, García-Manrique holds a degree in economic sciences from the University of Oviedo and Dublin City University, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the business school at the University of Oviedo.
Brian Hernacki
Architect
Symantec Corporation Brian Hernacki is an architect in the Symantec Research Labs where he works with a dedicated team to develop future technologies. Hernacki has more than 10 years of experience with computer security and enterprise software development. Additionally, Hernacki has conducted research and commercial product development in a number of security areas including intrusion detection and analysis techniques.
Hernacki previously led the design and architecture of products and the investigation and research of new technologies at Recourse Technologies. Previous to working at Recourse Technologies, Hernacki served as a Senior Software Developer, Group Manager and Product Architect at Netscape Communications Corporate, where he played a pivotal role in the development of a number of high-end enterprise and service provider server products.
Prior to Netscape, Hernacki's experience included engineering and management positions at Computer Aided Engineering Network (CAEN) where he developed a network wide intrusion detection system and maintenance and system reliability tools.
Hernacki earned a bachelor of science degree in Computer Engineering, with honors, from the University of Michigan.
Tom PowledgeVice President, Product Management
Symantec Corporation Tom Powledge is the senior director of product management for the Consumer Products and Solutions team at Symantec, and he is responsible for the management of the Norton consumer product line. Powledge's team determines product strategy, analyzes industry trends, and develops solutions to address customer needs. His team is also responsible for competitive assessment, product positioning, and pricing.
Powledge joined Symantec in 1995 and served in various product management positions for the Norton-brand consumer software products. He also led the product strategy teams in searching for new business opportunities for Symantec.
Powledge has over 10 years experience in the software industry and holds a bachelors degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Marian MerrittInternet Safety Advocate
Symantec Corporation As Symantec’s Internet Safety Advocate, Marian provides consumer-friendly insights into technology issues impacting computer users. She works closely with Symantec’s product and security teams and communicates Internet safety issues and best practices to computer users in a way that is easy to understand.
Marian meets regularly with consumers to ensure Symantec is in tune with what is happening in today’s Internet world and what computer users need to do to be smart and safe when it comes to technology. Marian also helps Symantec create engaging educational events that can be presented to a variety of audiences to help educate them on how to stay safe and protected on the Internet.
Marian’s ten years of experience at Symantec, first managing the development of Norton products — including the first consumer version of Norton AntiVirus — and then as director of Symantec’s Consumer Online Business, has given her the expertise required to understand the Internet security issues consumers face and the best practices they need to follow in order to stay safe online.
Mark Kanok
Senior product manager

Mark Kanok is the senior product manager for Norton 360, the newest addition to Symantec’s consumer product line. He is responsible for driving product strategy and development, product positioning and competitive assessment. Mark possesses extensive experience in the high-tech industry with more than 10 years of experience in security, CRM and Internet technologies.
Prior to Symantec, Mark lead global marketing for PortAuthority Technologies, a security software firm focused on information leak prevention. Prior to that, Mark owned product marketing for the real-time analytics product line at E.piphany. Mark also served as a strategy consultant with The McKenna Group where he focused on driving growth strategies for Global 1000 companies in the United States, Europe, and Japan. Mark began his career as an early member of FogDog Sports, the first online sporting goods retailer. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and a masters of business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dora KaraliSenior Product Manager, Consumer Products and Solutions
Symantec Corporation Dora Karali is the senior product manager responsible for Norton AntiVirus and the recently launched Norton AntiBot. In this role, Dora determines product positioning and strategy, development and competitive assessment for these key consumer offerings.
Dora has more than 10 years of experience in high-tech ranging from computer networks and storage to security. Prior to Symantec, Dora held senior engineering positions at various startup companies including Attune Systems, BlueArc Corp. and Luminous Networks where she led many critical projects including developing network protocols and building complex distributed file systems.
Dora holds a master’s in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles, a master’s in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece.
Ed KimDirector of Product Management, Consumer Products and Solutions
Symantec Corporation As director of product management for Symantec Corp., Ed Kim is responsible for leading the definition and management of Symantec’s system security products that provide comprehensive protection against viruses, hackers, spyware, spam and other threats and risks. His mission is to provide consumers with cutting-edge solutions that address today’s information security threats, with a special focus on defining and managing technologies that allow users to safely use the Internet and securely communicate with others while they are online. With his significant management, marketing and strategic planning experience, Kim oversees Symantec’s Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security product lines.
Ed joined Symantec from VeriSign, where he was responsible for product management and marketing of security service offerings, which enabled secure online data exchanges, transactions and communications. Prior to VeriSign, Ed served in a variety of product management and strategic marketing roles at iBEAM (acquired by Williams Communications), Intel Corporation and Procter & Gamble. He also has worked at the management consulting firms of McKinsey & Company and Booz-Allen & Hamilton.
Ed earned a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School, a master’s degree in engineering from Cornell University and a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
Collin DavisDevelopment Manager, Consumer Products & Solutions
Symantec Corporation Collin Davis is a Development Manager at Symantec Corp. He is responsible for, among other things, the Norton 360 All-In-One Security suite. In this role, he leads a team of software engineers who design, implement and maintain key components of the product. Prior to this role, Collin was an engineer involved in the first release of Norton 360 where he helped design & clarify the new consumer product.
Collin joined Symantec in 2001 as a developer helping build Norton AntiVirus. He played a critical role in releasing several versions of the application.
Collin has a B.S. in Computer Science from the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science at UCLA.
